Calibration Laboratory Team provides calibration services for piston pipettes in accordance with the PW-02 procedure "Calibration of piston pipettes", based on the guidelines of the PN-EN ISO 8655-6:2022-11 document.
The scope of the procedure includes the calibration of piston pipettes in the range from 0.1 µl to 10,000 µl.
CALIBRATION RANGE OF PISTON PIPETTES FROM 0.1 µL TO 10,000 µL.
The procedure applies to the calibration process at a fixed location of Centralne Laboratorium Pomiarowo-Badawcze Sp. z o.o.
Calibration points (tested volumes) are agreed with the Client/Ordering Party, in accordance with the following principles:
In the case of fixed-volume pipettes, the nominal volume is taken as the tested volume,
In the case of variable-volume pipettes (volume selected by the pipette user), the tested volumes are at least the following three volumes:
- nominal volume (100%),
- 50% of the nominal volume or the closest possible volume (if two equidistant volumes are possible, choose the higher value),
- the lower limit of the usable range or 10% of the nominal volume (whichever is higher).
Calibration results below the lower limit of the usable range or 10% of the nominal volume (whichever is greater) are considered non-compliant with the metrological requirements of PN-EN ISO 8655-6:2022-11.
At the Client's request, the Laboratory performs calibration at points agreed with the Client.
The laboratory performs measurements for selected calibration points, in the number of 10 repetitions of the measurement of the mass of the standard water supplied to the weighing vessel for each tested volume.
The Client/Ordering Party is obliged to deliver the following along with the calibration objects:
tips (minimum 5 per tested volume) – in the event of failure to provide tips, after consultation with the Client, compatible tips from the ZTW resources may be used, recording this fact on the Order form, Calibration Results Sheet and Calibration Certificate,
pipette decontamination declaration – if the Client/Ordering Party fails to provide the pipette decontamination declaration, the laboratory will refrain from carrying out the calibration process (download the declaration),
user manual or internet publication address (applies to pipettes calibrated for the first time in the laboratory).
The calibration process for fixed or variable volume pipettes may include, depending on arrangements with the Client:
determination of errors (systematic and random measurement error),
- determining the value of the measured volume for a given volume together with the measurement uncertainty.

Confirmation of compliance of the obtained measurement results with the requirements specified by the Client. Cost is determined individually.

The written order should include: Client/Ordering Party details, user details, data regarding the calibration object (including data necessary for proper identification of the object, i.e. name, model, serial/factory number, manufacturer, measurement range, etc.), scope of the calibration service, place of calibration or method of delivery of the object by the Client, contact details.
The confirmation of the service is a "Calibration Certificate", containing the calibration results (measurement error) along with the measurement uncertainty.
